You might be a little anxious about your photoshoot? Maybe this is your first time hiring a professional photographer? Maybe you’ve modeled a million times in your life? Either way, I am here for you. I have never ending poses, techniques and prompts designed for you to capture your forever memories. I have the right questions to pull out who you are so we can plan the perfect details to make your photo experience unique to you. There’s a part of the planning process that I have seen overlooked in my past experience. So, I have written a few photoshoot prepping tips that you might not have thought of before. Here we go!
1. PAMPER YOURSELF!
First, let’s talk about pampering yourself. This is something models do the week leading up to a show or a photoshoot. You deserve this same kind of pamper to bring out your inner model. This can look like face masks, moisturizing, massage, a shower, sitting on the couch watching a movie or getting to bed early. Other ways you can pamper yourself and look your best are getting your hair, makeup or nails done. You will want to look and feel your best for your photoshoot.
2. SUNSCREEN & TANNING
Next, let’s chat about sunscreen and tanning. (You will thank me later for this one.) Have you ever had a crazy sunburn or a weird tan line? I’ve seen a few real bad sunburns and tan lines in my days and have had to photoshop many out of photos. Do yourself a favor and if you know you’re about to get some sun take off your bracelets, watches, glasses or anything that will cause a weird tan line for the outfit you will be wearing at your photoshoot. If you’re like me and want a glow with some fake tanning, please try out the tanning months in advance. You don’t want to look like a crocodile or Oompa Loompa on the day of your photo experience.
3. COUNT DEM SHEEP
Please consider saying no to the party or a late night before your photo op moment. Dark under eyes aren’t usually the natural vibe I’m into. Feeling your best day of your photoshoot is important for you and the way you look.
4. OUTFITS
Put thought into your outfits and send your ideas over to me. I would be more than happy to help advise what colors and textures will pop and compliment your location. Don’t fret too much, I have a dress guide I’ll send over to you once you’re booked. Whoop!
5. DON’T FORGET TO ACCESSORIZE
Honestly, these smaller details go a loooooooooong way and really add that finishing touch to your photo memories. Things like hats, belts, a nicer pair of shoes, bracelets, watches, earrings or necklaces.
6. SHOW UP EARLY
Plan to be at least 10 minutes early. This way we can chat a little, go through your clothing options and get each other excited to start shooting. As my husband says, “Early is on time.”
Just remember your photo experience is incredibly important, these are your memories and you’re investing time and money. Take care of yourself, you deserve it! Also, maybe it’s been awhile since you’ve had some relaxation or personal care. It’s your time and you’re going to look AMAZING!
Now, you’re all ready for your photoshoot! Have so much fun!
