Deception Pass State Park Engagement Photo Session at Rosario Beach State park | Bridal Portraits | Rachel Syrisko Wedding Photographer

The Best Washington Engagement Session Locations

There are so many crazy gorgeous locations for engagement sessions in Washington State. One of the best areas for photos in Washington is Deception Pass.

Let’s chat a little more about Deception Pass. This gorgeous PNW pass with the insane scenery is a strait that separates Whidbey Island from Fildalgo Island, in the northwest part of the United States of Washington. Another little fun fact is that it connects Skagit Bay with the Straight of Juan de Fuca. All on the beautiful Puget Sound. One of the most epic views and popular tourist spot are the twin bridges called Deception Pass Bridge. One of my favorite places to visit and photograph couple’s at.

Here are the best locations in Deception Pass for photo sessions. Deception Pass Bridge, Macs Cove, North Beach, Rosario Beach, and many more.

There are also many amazing photo shoot locations nearby like Robert Y. Pratt Preserve at Ebey’s Landing or even incredible Skagit Valley Tullip Festival.

What if it Rains Day of My Photo shoot?!

One of the biggest concerns couple’s have when planning their engagement session in Washington State is the weather. It rains a lot here. So, what do you do if it rains on our photo shoot day? Or how do you plan for rain when planning your photo shoot? Let’s talk about that!

First, I think rain can add an exciting and fun element to your photo shoot day. It’s the PNW! Feel free to embrace the weather on the day of your session. Your professional photographer should be able to photograph in different weather conditions. I know I can! Sun, Rain, Snow etc.

Second, if anything is ever un-safe because of the weather I like to either have a plan B or we can reschedule. There may be some trails or spots that may be dangerous with rain or snow. OR roads might even close due to many different weather conditions. It’s always better to be safe.

Third, check out the photos below as an example of this couple embracing a rainy and windy day for their engagement session. It was on and off sprinkling, raining and windy. The fun thing about Washington is even if it’s raining sometimes the sun will peak out or it’ll rain on at off. Like this session at Deception Park. We adventured around in the rain and were som lucky with a gorgeous deep blue and creamy sunset.

Overall, have so much fun at your photo shoot. And don’t let the weather ruin your day. If you’re able to embrace it. Do it!
